CCTA – I80/SPDR Interchange Reconstruction Phase 1

Alpine Meadows
The Hanna Group was selected by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority as the prime consultant to perform full construction administration and construction management services for the I-80/San Pablo Dam Road Interchange Reconstruction Project!
The I-80/San Pablo Dam Road Interchange Reconstruction – Phase 1 Project proposes to provide safe and efficient bicycle and pedestrian access across I-80 by the construction of the new Riverside Avenue Pedestrian Overcrossing, which not only spans I-80, but also the busy Amador Street adjacent to Riverside Elementary School. This greatly improves public safety, meets current federal ADA-requirements, and eliminates the need for school children to cross the busy Amador Street.

The following is a summary of specific improvements that are a result of I-80/San Pablo Dam Road Interchange Reconstruction – Phase 1 Project:

  • Connectivity Improvements: Full Diamond Interchange at El Portal Drive will eliminate the current non-standard condition and will increase volume and improve safety. The elimination of the existing isolated WB onramp at El Portal as part of this project will remove the non-standard condition.
  • Traffic Improvement: The new ½ mile long Auxiliary lane off the new El Portal WB onramp will eliminate the “short weave” section there currently, minimizes traffic disruption and improving safety along WB I-80.
  • Safety: The new Riverside Avenue Pedestrian Overcrossing will provide safe and efficient bicycle and pedestrian access across I-80, as well as, the busy Amador Street adjacent to Riverside Elementary School, eliminating the need for school children to cross Amador Street.
  • Aesthetics: The Aesthetics of the new Riverside Avenue Pedestrian Overcrossing, Soundwalls and Retaining walls, as well as the enhanced landscaping, are a key component in beautifying this existing urban landscape.

City of Sacramento – Riverfront Reconnection Project

Alpine Meadows

The Hanna Group was selected by the City of Sacramento as the prime consultant to provide full Construction Management Services for the I-5 Riverfront Reconnection Project!
The I-5 Riverfront Reconnection Project proposes to construct a new connection of Capitol Mall to 2nd street/Neasham Circle into Old Sacramento, the widening of the Capitol Mall sidewalks over I-5, the closing of L Street to Capitol Mall ramp, and the construction of the sidewalk on the south side of the O Street Bridge over I-5.

The major elements of this project include:

  • Construction of 2nd street bridge from Capitol Mall down to Neasham Circle
  • Closing of the L Street Ramp from 3rd Street to Capitol Mall
  • Sidewalk widening of the Capitol Mall Bridge over I-5 and relocation of new street lights, traffic signals and landscaping
  • Retrofit of the Capitol Mall Bridge deck and installation of Streetcar tracks
  • Construction of brick faced sound walls and retaining walls
  • Replacement of three overhead sign structures with catwalks, replacement of one large sign panel at the I-5 NB on-ramp near L Street, installation of decorative street lights, and traffic signal poles and mast arms with electroliers
  • Installation of decorative fencing throughout the project limit

This project is a significant win for THG because the City of Sacramento is an existing client. This project is important to the City due to extensive community and local business involvement as well as fulfilling the need to reconnect downtown to the river.
